In celebration of their 49th concert season, the Warwick Symphony Orchestra (WSO) announces its 2015-2016 season under the direction of conductor Catherine Gagnon.

A regional orchestra of volunteer musicians that brings symphonic performances around the state and beyond, the 60-plus-member WSO will entertain audiences with three concert series beginning this autumn.

The fall series, “A Patchwork Symphony,” will feature a performance of selected movements from three classical composers; a full single symphony from Felix Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No.5 (Reformation),” Antonin Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 9 (The New World),” and Beethoven’s infamous “Symphony No. 5.”

The first showing will take place on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 2115 Broad Street, Cranston. A second show will be held Sunday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. at the Greenwich Odeum, 59 Main Street, East Greenwich.

Tickets to the fall series are available at the door, or online through www.wsori.org by following the link to Brown Paper Tickets. General admission is $10; children under 12 enter for free.

Seasonal favorites with plenty of bells, brass, and song will kick off WSO’s holiday series, “Joyous Sounds of Christmas,” with three venues and shows certain to bring audiences plenty of holiday cheer.

The premier showing will take place on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. A second offering will be hosted at the Sal Mancini Center, 2 Atlantic Blvd., North Providence, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for these two shows are available at the door or online through www.wsori.org. There is a $10 general admission fee, no fee for children under 12.

The third show, Saturday, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m., will be held at St. Peter’s By-The-Sea Church at 72 Central Street, Narragansett, and will collaborate with the St. Peter’s and St. Mark’s Choirs and their “New-Song Project” under the direction of Cheryl Casola and Linda Wiles.

Tickets to this show are available through members of WSO, or St. Peter’s and St. Mark’s Choirs, with a $10 general admission while children under 12 are free. Seating is limited and there may be some tickets available at the door

WSO will celebrate winter’s end with their Spring series, “In A Changing World…,” which will offer a reflection of our world through time with stories of culture, world events, and political and societal change. The WSO will explore how the changing world has been expressed through music spanning era and genre.

Showings are scheduled for Thursday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pilgrim Senior Center located at 27 Pilgrim Parkway, Warwick, and on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at the Goddard State Park Carousel, 1095 Ives Road, East Greenwich.

Tickets will be available at the door or online through www.wsori.org. There is a fee of $10 for general admission, and children under 12 are admitted free.
