The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles (RIPYWE) will hold auditions by appointment on June 9 and 17 for the Senior Division and Junior division. For an audition application or more information, visit musicschool.riphil.org or contact Youth Ensembles Coordinator Chelsea Anderson at 248-7038 or canderson@ripihl.org.
Founded in 2002, RIPYWE offers advanced woodwind, brass and percussion students from Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut an outstanding opportunity to rehearse and perform high quality wind ensemble repertoire. RIPYWE offers these students a challenging and rewarding musical experience. RIPYWE Senior Division, conducted by Eric Hewitt, is designed for students in grades 10 through college. RIPYWE Junior Division, conducted by Music Director Dr. David Neves, is designed for students in grades 7-9.
Both RIPYWE ensembles rehearse once weekly at the RI Philharmonic’s Carter Center for Music Education & Performance in East Providence from September through May and present two major performances. RIPYWE Senior rehearses on Tuesday evenings and RIPYWE Junior rehearses on Wednesday evenings.
