Lorraine Okerholm and her daughter Kristy took some time Saturday to visit the family plot at Pawtuxet Memorial Cemetery to place a flag on the grave of their grandfather and great-grandfather, respectively, the Rev. Leland Ide, who lived from 1893 to 1977. This past weekend the cemetery held its traditional Avenue of Flags, a salute to Memorial Day and to all the veterans buried there. The Reverend Ide was pastor of the Church of God on Warwick Neck and a veteran of World War II. As its congregation dwindled, the church donated the building and land to Cornerstone Adult Services, where it built a day care center for adults suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and low-income housing after merging with Saint Elizabeth Community.
