The Pilgrim Senior Center welcomed a new paratransit van with the capacity of 12 ambulatory seats and two wheelchair positions. The van was purchased with a combination of a grant from the State Office of Healthy Aging (formerly the Department of Elderly Affairs) and ARPA funds. Transwick makes an average of 400 trips within the city every week, providing rides for older adults to the Pilgrim Senior Center for meals, programs and social service appointments; as well as grocery shopping, the McDermott Pool, and the Warwick Public Library. In addition, Transwick also has limited availability for trips to the bank, pharmacy, and hair appointments. This picture, courtesy of the mayor’s office, was taken outside the senior center.
