Claire J. Aul, 80, of Warwick passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, with her stepdaughters by her side. Claire was the wife of Leroy C. Aul for 38 years until his passing in 2021.  Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Eugene H. and Bertha L. (Delude) Bessette.

Claire worked for Speidel/Textron for over 25 years as an order picker until she retired to travel and enjoy her life with the love of her life Leroy C. Aul. Claire loved Las Vegas and taking bus tours and most of all just enjoying her life. She was a lifetime member of the Oakland Beach Fire Social Club in Warwick. Playing Hi-Low Jack and competing in card tournaments was her favorite thing to do. If you have an Ace in your hand, you better come in for a 2 bid!

Claire loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. When she could, she often sang in the senior center chorus. Her love for crossword puzzles in the Pro-Jo was a daily staple but most of all, Claire spent her time reading. She never went anywhere without a book. There are so many great memories of family card nights, Uno, and her lucky game Left-Center-Right-Center where she always won the pot!

Claire was the mother of Kevin Costa of NH; stepmother to Renee Abrantes, Lynda Aul, and Heidi Aul. She leaves behind her Son-in-Law Mark Abrantes, Daughter-in-Law Michelle Branch and 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Hawksley, Collin and Shane Aul-Branch, Christopher Costa, Katie Costa and Kaydence Costa and 2 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Theisler and Avery Hawksley. She was the sister of Judy Bessette of Riverside and the late Theresa Ziobrowski.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 10AM-12PM with a Funeral Ceremony to follow at 12PM in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick.  Her burial will immediately follow in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
