Barbara R. O’Brien


Barbara R. O’Brien, 76, of Narragansett Avenue in West Warwick, RI passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on March 16, 2014. He was the wife of the late George L. O’Brien.

She was born in Warwick, RI, the daughter of the late Leo and Rose (Herbert) Mather. She was a bartender for many years for various locations.

She is survived by six children: George, Joseph, Edward, Charles, and Patricia O’Brien and Cheryl Castaldi; a sister; Florence Tavares and her husband, Joseph; fifteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a nephew, Dennis Kennedy. She was predeceased by a nephew, Francis Kennedy.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Gorton-Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial will be private. For online condolences please visit

I am sorry for the lost of my sister. I wish i could have said good by in person but we talked on the phone i loved her and i said my good by over the phone.She will be missed by all.I send my love to george joseph edward charley patricia and cheryl who took care of her and every one that was with her till the end.I wanted to tell you her middle name was ann.SHE has a great aunt i jacksonvill fl MRS florence durham AND the is the last of my mothers family.SHE IS NOW WITH GEORGE GOD BLESS BOTH .LOVEING SISTER FLORENCE TAVARE
