To the Editor:
In the fall of 2017, my husband Kevan and I invited Ward 7 Councilman Steve McAllister to a backyard gathering of residents of the Birches, a circle consisting of two streets, Normandy and Brunswick Drives. As a result of the latest airport expansion, our circle resembles more of a horseshoe with grass lots where modest capes once stood.
Steve was happy to meet and discuss some of our concerns. Many of us were unhappy that cars were driving across the grass lots from Groveland Ave. onto Brunswick Dr., creating mud rutted “roads” at odd angles.
Subsequently, Steve’s meetings with the Airport Corporation resulted in the installation of bollards along the perimeter of Brunswick Drive. Bollards are defined as sturdy, short, vertical posts. They are spaced approximately six feet apart to prevent vehicles from passing through.
We thank Councilman Steve McAllister for his support of us and his dedication to bringing this issue to a positive result.
