Herb Chambers, like many people, was quite excited about the prospect of walking into the car dealership and purchasing a brand-new Cadillac Eldorado in the early 1980s. Unfortunately, the experience with that particular establishment left much to be desired. So, he did something a little more unexpected.
“Within an hour I didn’t buy the Cadillac, but I did buy the dealership,” he said during a recent phone interview to discuss the opening of his newest dealership on Route 2 in Warwick – an Italian luxury car lover’s dream come true where both Alfa Romeos and Maseratis glisten and wait for their new homes.
The new showroom will be located in the space next to the currently operating Herb Chambers Cadillac dealership at 1441 Bald Hill Road, which was formerly used to sell pre-owned Cadillacs. While he already operates more than 60 dealerships in his ownership group, the new Bald Hill Road location was an opportunity Chambers said he couldn’t pass up.
“We feel this is a great opportunity to be where people are going to be searching for that type of vehicle,” he said. “We think Rhode Island is a great market. There are a lot of luxury buyers down there, and these are very unique automobiles.”
And while these cars may be out of the price range of your everyday sedans and SUVs, Chambers emphasized that the price tag on certain Romeos and Maseratis may be more within reason than you’d initially think, at least in comparison to other luxury brands such as Ferrari and Porsche.
“Some of the Maseratis have the same engine as Ferraris do,” he said, adding that even more “economical luxury” was possible through cars like the Alfa Romeo Guilia, which can start at an MSRP of around $38,000. They also sport a uniqueness about them as well, he said, as their production numbers in the United States pales in comparison to other brands.
“They're very exciting cars,” Chambers said.
The dealership now has the distinction of being the only location in Rhode Island to sell new Alfa Romeo and Maserati cars.

This is a great new business. It is sure to attract more taxpayers to Warwick. Congrats to all that made it possible.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Justanidiot, thanks again for drawing out the two-time election reject and getting him to willfully show his absolute ignorance yet again.
I know that "proles" refers to "proletariat," which means working class people. He clearly doesn't, nor did he take the time to actually learn that before he made yet another uninformed comment.
And your underlying point remains: The people who are wealthy enough to afford Maseratis and Ferraris will see Warwick as little more than scenery.
Beyond that, the two-time election reject presents the delusional idea that such people would consider relocating to Warwick, oblivious [as usual] to the fact that homes actually cost the city more, in terms of services, than they contribute in tax revenue.
Car sales provide the city with revenue, in sales taxes [that are then provided to the city from the state budget] and property taxes. That is already a positive outcome for the city that the double election loser would understand if he were not so intent on making a disgrace of himself.

Justanidiot, maybe you can explain the two-time election reject's "joke," because so far, his behavior is the only thing to be laughed at.
To paraphrase:
He has no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life, only the intent of trampling on an enemy who is helpless, and holding two contradictory beliefs in his mind simultaneously, while accepting both of them.

Now maybe Inskip will offer Ferrari and Lamborghini, Then Chambers might bring in Lotus and McLaren. Not to be outdone Inskip could then bring in Koenigsegg and Pagani, and on and on till we have an entire village of cars for sale that only a few people in Warwick and Nobody in West Warwick can afford!
