The Warwick Police Department has noticed a recent uptick in fraudsters calling and pretending to be from Citizen’s Bank. They are cloning the bank’s phone number so it will come up as Citizen’s Bank on your caller ID, and the phone number will match the actual branch’s phone number. Please be advised that banks or legitimate companies will not ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer money into Crypto Currency for payments or to protect your funds. If you feel something is suspicious, please contact the bank/company yourself at the numbers listed on their website or credit card. Please make sure your elderly family members are aware of this.

The Mayor thanks Senator McKenney for presenting the Pilgrim Senior Center today with a $1,000 legislative grant that will be used to defray costs of exercise programs. It’s vital to keep as active as you can in your older years. Thank you, Senator!

The City of Warwick is joining forces with The Rhode Island Military Organization and BJ’s Wholesale Club to fill the shelves with free snacks and beverages at RIMO’s Military Lounge at TF Green International Airport for traveling military members. A snack drive kicks off today and runs through April 7th at the BJ’s located at 357 East Ave.

The Warwick Police Department was victorious over the East Providence Police Department 5 to 1 in tonight’s Battle of the Bays at Thayer Arena. The score does not reflect what a close and spirited game this was. The puck just kept falling Warwick’s way. The arena was rocking with a big crowd of Warwick fans and Mayor Picozzi was in awe of how many East Providence fans braved the Washington Bridge to root for their heroes in blue. Both Mayor Bob DaSilva, and Mayor Picozzi are very proud of our officers and our residents that showed so much community spirit. A lot of money was raised for RI Special Hockey. Now to pick at which Warwick restaurant to have Mayor DaSilva buy Mayor Picozzi lunch.

Mayor Picozzi may be Italian, but he married an Irish girl, his daughters are half Irish, and his grandchildren are 3/4 Irish so for today, the Mayor is Irish.

Mayor Picozzi wants to wish Happy St Patrick’s Day to everyone!!

What a great day for a Warwick family!! Our very own Amelia got to “Ring the bell” today at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, signifying her last chemo treatment. Enzo’s Escorts picked her up at home this morning and the Warwick Police and Fire Department gave her an escort to and from Hasbro. A great crowd of people showed up at Hasbro to “clap her out”. This incredibly brave little girl has been battling cancer for more than two years. She is strong and charming and her smile lights up the universe. Her mom Carly is an incredible woman. Mayor Picozzi has gotten to know this family very well and was humbled and honored that they asked him to be a part of such an important day. Now, this Tomorrow Fund Family can have a more normal life. As for Amelia- when she got back to the house she posed for some pictures and then waved bye and went in the yard to play in her playhouse with her sisters. Not many people had dry eyes today!!!

This is an awesome story about Amelia. Her family is very grateful to the Warwick community who helped them while Amelia fought and beat cancer. Warning— Watching this story has been known to cause moist eyes. https://turnto10.com/.../5-year-old-warwick-girl-who-just...#

There is an extra person in the Mayor’s office today, so it will be open. The Mayor is still pretty sick so he’s going to stay in his office away from everyone. He is canceling in-person meetings. The Mayor will be monitoring and answering messages as usual.
