Donald W. Kennedy, 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia Shailer Kennedy and companion of Joyce Moore.
Born in Worcester, MA, he moved to Denver, Colorado in 1939 and back to Providence in 1943. After serving in the Navy on Guam in WW II, he attended URI graduating in 1950 with a degree in Business – Marketing/Advertising. He was a Regional Sales Manager for Bay State Abrasive Products, Westboro, MA, retiring in 1987. He continued working as an independent agent for Abrasives & Tools, Auburn, MA and also for his own company, Kennedy Assoc. He was a member of the Harmony Lodge #9, Masonic Order, Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was a devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Warwick starting in 1960 and also a trustee at United Methodist Elder Care.
He was the devoted father to Claudia L. Lynch (Dana C. Lynch) of Dover, NH and Wendy K. Recchia (Robert R. Recchia) of North Kingstown, RI. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Caitlyn L. Heald, Brandon W. Lynch, Matthew C. Recchia and Adam C. Recchia and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Bradley. He was the son of Clifford Ward Kennedy and Helen Wright Kennedy and brother of Sheldon Ward Kennedy and Priscilla Kennedy Wing (all deceased).
A memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 143 Ann Mary Brown Drive, Warwick, RI 02888 on Saturday, November 16 at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
