E. Paul Kelly, 79, of Frontier Road, died December 5, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline E. (Babin) Kelly, to whom he was married for 34 years.

Born in Providence, he was son of the late Capt. Edward H. Kelly, PPD and Florence I. (King) Kelly. He was the stepson of the late Helen B. (McCauley) Meanerhan-Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a dedicated and well-respected member of the Providence Fire Department for 36 years retiring in 1990 with the rank of Battalion Chief.

Paul graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1949 and attended Providence College before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three battle stars, a U.N. Service Medal and the National Service Defense Medal. He was a member of the Providence Police and Firefighters Retirement Association, the American Legion Shields Post #43, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4651, and was a gold card member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club.

He leaves a son, Michael E. Kelly, with whom he made his home, and a stepsister, Barbara Mooney of Cranston. He was the father of the late Timothy P. and Steven L. Kelly and brother of the late Florence I. Kelley, Delores H. Stimson and Dennis G. Kelly.

His funeral will be held Dec. 9 at 9 a.m. from Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Benedict Church, Beach Ave., Warwick at 10 a.m. Calling hours are Dec. 8 from 5-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
