Johnston sophomore Bianca Robbins has been named the Sun Rise’s Female Athlete of the Year after she excelled in girls’ soccer, girls’ basketball and girls’ lacrosse this year.

Robbins was a part of two championship teams in her sophomore campaign, helping the Panthers’ girls’ basketball and girls’ lacrosse squads to division titles, while the girls’ soccer team fell in a shootout in the D-III championship game after posting an undefeated regular season.

Robbins emerged as one of the top girls’ soccer players in the state in the fall, topping all scorers throughout all divisions with 46 goals and 54 points. Her combination of speed and skill was tough to contain for Division III opponents, as Robbins led the Panthers to a perfect regular season and a title game berth.

She then moved on to the winter season, where the Johnston girls’ basketball team ran the table in Division II.

Robbins was a stalwart on defense, many times covering the opponent’s top offensive player, and she also provided timely scoring at the other end.

She chipped in nine points in the D-II championship game against East Providence, which resulted in a 60-45 victory. Overall, Robbins was fourth on the team with 5.3 points per game, totaling 111 points on 46 made field goals.

Robbins kept her winning ways going on the lacrosse field this spring.

She was fourth on the Panthers with 30 points on 15 goals and 15 assists during the regular season, as the team posted a 10-2 record and earned the No. 2 seed for the Division III tournament.

Johnston ultimately ran into No. 1 seed and formally unbeaten Westerly in the D-III title game at Brown University.

Robbins shined on the biggest stage, netting two goals and adding two assists, as she scored the game-tying goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 7-6 triumph.

Robbins was recognized for her play during all three seasons. She was named a Third Team All-State selection in girls’ soccer, while she was All-Division in girls’ lacrosse and an All-Division II Honorable Mention pick in girls’ basketball.

She will look to compile some more championships when she returns to Johnston for two more years.
