Thinking Pink
Flames of Hope burn bright in RI
PINKED OUT: Dash, a yellow Labrador retriever, napped near the 2013 Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Calendar girls as they autographed the month they represented. The calendar focused on women under the age of 40 who dealt with breast cancer early in their lives as the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation launched their campaign that breast cancer is “not just your grandmother’s disease.” Photographed by Lisa Bruno of 64degrees Photography, the calendar captures 12 young breast cancer survivors featuring locations throughout Rhode Island.
FLAMES & FRIENDSHIP: Connie Camp Ribera and Mary Jane Bohlen, both of Cranston, served as torchbearers leading to the basin to ignite a special Waterfire on Saturday evening.
GETTING HIP: Health ID Profile partners Angelo Pitassi of Cranston and Chris Melo of Johnston are photographed with Miss USA Olivia Culpo. The R.I.-based company combines cloud computing technology with trendy medical alert bands and bracelets, and now have a product made specifically for the Gemma Foundation.
MEET MARIA: Maria Gemma Corcelli, executive director of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, smiles at Flames of Hope, held this past weekend in Station Park in Providence. The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation was established in 2004, in memory of Maria’s mother who died from breast cancer.
BANGLE BAR: Alexandra Barbolla of Alex & Ani sets up a Bangle Bar where 20 percent of proceeds from sales went to the Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
