Gas prices down 1 cent AAA survey finds

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA Northeast’s September 30 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.50 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 15 cents below the national average of $2.65. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 34 cents higher at $2.84 per gallon.

“Crude oil prices have dropped not far above where they were before the drone attack on Saudi oil facilities just over two weeks ago,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “This is helping to push gas prices cheaper in most of the country and motorists in the northeast can expect this trend to continue.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 34 cents, from a low of $2.35 to a high of $2.69.
