Catherine M. “Cathy” (Johnston) Gilchrist, 66, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023. She was the loving companion of the late Vernon B. Goff, Jr. and former wife of Kevin A. Gilchrist, Sr. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Norman W. and Olive M. (Eagleson) Johnston.
Catherine was employed by Providence Wholesale Drug/Foxmeyer/McKesson for many years and was employed by Ocean State Job Lot as a Buyer’s Assistant from 2007 until her retirement in 2018.
She was a member of the Teamsters Local 251 and was a member of the VFW Post 183 Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
Catherine was the loving mother of Susan M. Gilchrist and Kevin A. Gilchrist, Jr., both of Warwick, and Christine A. San Souci (Kevin M.) of Sterling, CT. She was the devoted grandmother of Kevin Allan III, Ashley Ann, Megan Elizabeth, Daphne Lynn, and Bradley Michael, and great-grandmother of Kevin Allan IV. She was the sister of Maryann (Kilgallon) Sasso of Georgia, Kevin N. Johnston and Norman W. Johnston, Jr., both of Warwick, and Michael J. McKeown of Cranston. She was the sister of the late John F. Kilgallon, III and Dorothy R. (Johnston) Hope.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:00AM at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich.
Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass from 8:00AM-9:00AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
