Mary (Dolan) Gilmore, age 97, passed away Saturday January 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Patrick Gilmore. Mary was the beloved daughter of the late James and Bridget Dolan. She is survived by her son James Gilmore and his wife Sharon.
Born in Lisnaskea, Northern Ireland, Mary and her family then moved south to County Cavan in Ireland when she was young. She then spent her early adult years working in England before she and her future husband Patrick immigrated to the United States in 1950. Mary and Patrick then began their new life together after marrying in 1952, but would make frequent trips back to Ireland to visit family later on in life.
Living in New York for some time, their family moved to Rhode Island in 1972 where Mary was employed at Leviton Manufacturing for many years. Upon her retirement, you could find Mary tending to her garden at home with her beloved cat “Bud”, or spending time at St. Kevin Church in Warwick, RI. Above all, she loved her family who will miss her dearly.
Mary is also survived by her loving granddaughters Nicole and Morgan, as well as her loving niece Mary Viveiros. She is predeceased by her brothers Stephen Dolan, Thomas Dolan, James Dolan, Patrick Dolan, John Dolan and Frances Dolan.
Her funeral will be held on Monday January 15, 2024, at 9:00 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation on Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm. Her burial will be private.
