To the Editor:
Every person in Rhode Island should be contacting their senators and representatives to insure that the new baseball park proposal is put to a public vote.
Whether you consider yourself a fan or not is beside the point. The people of Rhode Island are already considered to be among the most taxed individuals in our country. One national study indicates our state and local taxes ranked us 19th. This ranking seems high up on the scale, for such a small state. The new park proposal, if successful, would put an additional burden on the taxpayer. This is outrageous.
I am, and have been for many years, a season ticket holder to the Pawtucket Red Sox. I have, along with my family, enjoyed many games and have witnessed young players advance to the Major Leagues. The Pawtucket Red Sox ballpark has been one of the few places where a family can spend quality time without emptying one’s purse strings.
The audacity that owners and state officials would even contemplate considering having taxpayers take on the burden of approximately $5 million a year for 30 years so soon after the “fantastic” 38 Studios debacle is absurd. The citizens of Rhode Island are hardworking individuals who (even though the politicians and those politically connected doubt) are also well-informed individuals. As the saying goes, “Fool us once, shame on you! Fool us twice, shame on us!” This time the taxpayers are not going to be fooled!

Sort of seems like the Democratic party is lining up a string of "one and done" candidates to continue furthering their agenda and pushing through whatever deals they want. First Lost Linc and now Gina, who is probably awaiting a cushy appointment after this term to make way for the next stooge who will continue to push through the socialist agenda. Like Lost Linc, she seems to be doing whatever she wants without any regards for the taxpayer, so she has to know re-election will not be a possibility for her. Wonder who is in line next? Stop voting these career politicians in! Hasn't everyone had ENOUGH yet?
