John J. Hannon, Jr., passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the age of 70. He was the beloved husband of Maria “Gabe” (Amaral) Hannon to whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born in Moses Lake, WA, to John J. Hannon, Sr. and Donna (McLean) Hefley. John was the loving father of Elijah Hannon, Natasha Hannon and Zachary Hannon (wife, Dana). He was the first of five siblings, brother of James Hannon, Laura Boucher, Cathy Hetu and the late Denise Eygabroad.

Prior to his retirement in 2019, John was employed by the City of Warwick for over 30 years. John had a passion for educating and helping the communities he resided in. This passion could be seen during his time coaching football, baseball and soccer as well as in his previous work as a schoolteacher and Pawtucket police officer.

After leaving teaching John was determined to continue educating and became very involved in his children's sporting activities. Through coaching for Warwick P.A.L. Football, Continental Baseball and all three of his children’s soccer teams, John was able to continue pursuing his passions and made a positive impact on countless lives. John loved camping with his wife and their friends, spending time laughing with his children, the family dogs, golfing, gardening, and watching the Patriots.

A visitation will be held from 4PM-7PM on Friday, December 1, 2023, in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Funeral Ceremony to follow at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rhode Island Clean Water Association, ricwa.org
