Francis E. “Frank” Kelly, Sr., 90, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Gladys M. (Elliott) Kelly for 69 years. Frank was born in Providence, a son of the late Edward and Agnes (Pelaquin) Kelly, Sr. Frank was a truck mechanic for 13 years at Birch St. garage in Cranston and then worked another 40 years at RI Diesel in East Providence. He continued working another 15 years at Brainin Advance Industries before retiring at the age of 80. Frank was a graduate of the RI School of the Deaf. He loved camping, watching the Red Sox and Patriots and Notre Dame Football. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Frank E. Kelly, Jr., a daughter, Maureen M. “Kelly” Pinney and her husband, Mark; grandfather of Joshua Kelly, Taylor Crosby, Ryan Pinney, Emily Kelly, Ashley and Austin Arbor, who always called him Poppa. Great-grandfather of Joshua Jr., Ezra and Sawyer Kelly. He was a brother of the late Edward, Raymond Kelly and Mildred Veverka.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Visiting hours will be Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to RI Food Bank, 200 Niantic Ave., Providence, RI 02907 or The Providence Rescue Misson, 627 Cranston St., Providence, RI 02907, will be appreciated.
