Lucille M. (George) Medeiros, age 89 of Warwick, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Avalon Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Born in Warwick, RI, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Viola (Kenyon) George. She was the beloved wife of Manuel D. Medeiros for 28 years until his death in 2020.
A graduate of Aldrich High School, Lucille was employed as a clerk and typist for various companies throughout her career. She was employed by Nicoll Letter Shop as a typist, Norwood Boys & Girls Club as an office clerk, and her own business, Kwik Type. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Leonelli & Vicario, LTD located in Warwick.
A devoted and faithful Christian, Lucille was a beloved member of Norwood Baptist Church in Warwick. There weren’t many functions or activities that Lucille was not involved in. She was a member of Norbakirk Women’s Group, Women of Worth, sang in the choir, served as Church President, and worked as the secretary for a number of years. At the age of 71, she traveled with a group from church on a mission trip to El Salvador, where they helped build a school for the community. Lucille loved to sing and, in addition to the church choir, she also belonged to the West Bay Chorale and The Village Singers.
Lucille is survived by her three children: Debra A. Thiel of Warwick, RI, Wendy L. Hatchett of Diamondhead, MS, and Edward J. Hall and his wife Texsinia “Tina” of Warwick, RI; two stepchildren: Michael P. Medeiros and his wife Kathy of Ossineke, MI; and Barbara Ann Ashby and her husband John of Davis, CA; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two siblings: Russell L. George and Marilyn J. Hayward.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Norwood Baptist Church, 48 Budlong Avenue, Warwick, immediately followed by her burial at St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Warren.
