Melissa McDermott and Timothy E. Geertz were united in marriage September 3, 2011 by Rev. Dr. Jonathan Malone and Rev. Dr. Barry Meehan at First Baptist Church of East Greenwich. A reception followed at the Warwick Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Richard and Rebecca McDermott Jr. of Warwick. She is a graduate of Toll Gate High School and the University of Rhode Island. She is a marketing director at Unified Trust.
The groom is the son of Perry Geertz of Lexington, Ky. and Delray Tessin of Morgantown, W.Va. He is a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School and the University of Kentucky College of Law. He is employed by the Law Offices of Timothy E. Geertz.
The bride carried a bouquet of blue hydrangeas with white lilies and white stephanotis.
Nicole Dececco was maid of honor and Nicol Villari was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole McDermott, sister of the bride, Diana Pozzi.
Jimmy Swinney was best man. Groomsmen were Jason Baldesare, Joseph Keyes and Ben Rich. Ushers were Daniel Tessin, Luke Geertz and Tyler Geertz. Gavin Baldessare was the ring bearer.
The couple resides in Lexington, Ky.
