Winter Wonderland 2023 chugged into the Oakland Beach School Friday night with carloads of events including a holiday shop, crafts, a visit from Santa and, of course, the Grinch, and best of all a train ride among the holiday decorations. This is the third annual Wonderland hosted by the school’s PTO and the first to be held at the former Gorton Junior High School, now home to the school administration. Gorton is also the temporary home to Oakland Beach Elementary School, which is undergoing renovations that are expected to be completed in time for the school to reopen in time for the 2024-25 academic year. Milissa O’Neil, teacher representative to the school PTO said, “Without the dedicated Oakland Beach PTO, supportive Faculty and Staff, our amazing families and generous donations this event would not be possible.” She noted that the snowman shaped sugar cookies and snowy white frosting were provided by the culinary students at the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center.
