Pats, Titans still winless
Both Pilgrim and Toll Gate are running out of time to pick up a league win this year, as this past weekend marked two more losses for the Pats and Titans.
Toll Gate, coming off one of its best performances of the season in a 20-8 loss to unbeaten Woonsocket, battled Mt. Hope into the fourth quarter but eventually fell short in a 28-6 loss. The Titans trailed only 14-6 at halftime, and the score remained that way until the final period, where the Huskies pulled away.
Mt. Hope got a 25-yard pass from Aidan Silva to Matt Mendonca to give it a two-touchdown lead, and it finished off the win with an 80-yard touchdown run by Nick Murgo.
Toll Gate’s six points came in the second quarter by virtue of a 35-yard pass from Joe Brosnahan to Nick Lemoi.
Pilgrim’s loss was much more lopsided, as it was shutout and allowed over 50 points for the second straight week. After a 62-0 loss to Cumberland two weeks ago, the Pats lost 55-0 to Rogers on Friday. The Vikings scored 33 points in the first half and added 14 more in the third quarter, plus eight in the fourth. Liam Leys had two touchdowns.
Toll Gate and Pilgrim are both now 0-6 in their respective division, with Toll Gate tied for the last spot in Division II-A with fellow-winless Chariho, while Pilgrim sits at the bottom of D-II-B. The Titans will have a real shot for a win this week, however, as they close out their league slate against Chariho at home on Saturday at 10 a.m. Pilgrim hosts 4-2 St. Raphael on Friday at 7 p.m.
