Congratulations to the students and teachers at Pilgrim!

It seems to me that the number of "Honor-Role" students, keeps increasing. Great news! It shows that the students and teachers at Pilgrim are working together and accomplishing better results today than they were able to yesterday. At this pace Warwick schools will soon be the envy of other schools from other areas of the state and Warwick will start attracting back some of the thousands of students that left in the last few years.

I believe that this is a direct result of the new contracts for the teachers. I believe the new contracts gave our teachers the confidence and stability that was lacking for over two years. The result is better teaching,; better students; and better results.

Again, congratulations to the Honor-students mentioned above and the Honor-teachers that helped to get them there!

Part of the reason that Tom Brady (the student) is such a great quarterback is because Bill Belichick (the teacher) is such a great head coach.

    Happy Spring everyone.

No my old friend, I am not saying that the teachers ever held back. I believethey always gave their best. I'm saying that the new contracts had a very positive effect on them just like it would on you or me or anyone. The teachers always cared about the students. The problem was the School Committee and the Mayor didn't show that they gave a damn about the teachers. Avedisian didn't attend ANY contract talks for OVER TWO YEARS! If I was a Warwick teacher, I don't know if I could work under those conditions. But now that our teachers have the stability and reassurance of an employment contract, look at the results. I think it's a very positive direct result. Don't you?

    Happy Spring Justanidiot.

    Happy Spring everyone.

Wow, Justanidiot, look how thoroughly the fake "mayor" embarrasses himself again -- as if continuing to use honor roll articles for his political statements weren't bad enough.

Parents of these high-achieving kids and voters who actually paid attention to the contract dispute are well aware that the state-appointed contract mediator, Vincent Ragosta, credited Mayor Avedisian with attending 25 meetings between the school committee and the WTU. As you and other readers who know the facts will recall, this was during the time that the union staged pickets outside City Hall, walked out of an arbitration meeting, and conducted an illegal strike that a judge had to order them to stop.

If I were a parent of these students, I would be glad that the teachers are back doing their jobs instead of pulling PR stunts. I would also be looking forward to the day that honest, taxpaying voters defeat the fake "mayor" at the polls a second time this November.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA,

Once again the tax cheat, tax delinquent, campaign finance violator, and liar, fake mayor, lowers himself to continue to pander to a special interest. Where does it end?

    Dear CrickeeRaven,

If Mayor Avedisian was participating in the teachers contract talks as you claim, why did the teachers feel the need to picket in front of his office as you stated? The fact is, he didn't participate for over two years!

You condemn me for congratulating the successes of the Honor-students mentioned above. Why don't you join me and just applaud them?

Happy Spring CrickeeRaven, whoever you are.

    Happy Spring everyone.

  • CrickeeRaven

"If Mayor Avedisian was participating in the teachers contract talks as you claim..."

The fake "mayor" thus continues his streak of ignoring and twisting facts. This was not a "claim," but a verified fact, that Vincent Ragosta credited Mayor Avedisian with attending 25 meditation meetings over two years.

"(W)hy did the teachers feel the need to picket in front of his office as you stated?"

As has been proven already, the WTU was more interested in staging PR stunts than negotiating, until their attempts at stalling a deal were ended by a judge.

Honest, taxpaying voters have the clearest proof yet (as if any more were needed) that the fake "mayor" is a pathetic failed candidate who lacks the barest semblance of honesty and deserves the overwhelming rejection that he will get again this November.

Rick, more pathetic pandering to an organization (Warwick Teachers Union) that will never endorse you.

Have any schools been forced to close over any "sick outs" since the contract has been signed? Apparently cold and flu season only lasts as long as a labor dispute in Warwick. Where was your tough talk while teachers were forcing schools to be closed for selfish reasons? You were trying to score political points attacking the school committee.

It's too bad people like Rick Corrente care more about being elected, then they do about actually fixing problems in our school system.

sew master mayer, are youse for the taxpayers or the teachers

Thursday, April 5, 2018 Report this

  • CrickeeRaven

    Hello again Scal1024:

Once again we are witness to the fake "mayor" willingly embarrassing himself through what you correctly identify as pandering behavior.

A count of the students in the honor roll above results in 603 names. By comparison, the 2nd quarter 2017 honor roll, published prior to the settlement of the teacher contract, included 633 names -- the link is here: http://warwickonline.com/stories/pilgrim-2nd-quarter-honors,123011?

I am sure you'd agree that one does not have to be an honor roll student to know that 633 is more than 603.

As if it were not humiliating enough that there were more honor roll students last year than this year -- not that "the number of honor roll students keeps increasing" as the fake "mayor" falsely claims and incorrectly spells -- the previous article also includes a comment from the fake "mayor" that states: "Mayor Avedisian started to get involved a couple of months ago. I applaud his efforts."

So, not only do objective facts disprove yet another of the fake "mayor's" claims, but he contradicts his own words from a year ago where he acknowledged that Mayor Avedisian was, in fact, involved in the contract process.

WTU members are right to stay as far away as possible from the fake "mayor," and as you correctly point out, they will never endorse such a failure of a candidate.

Facts. Facts are good. Facts are great. Facts are important. Numbers are too. I was actually going to count as well so I am glad you did that task for me CrickeeRaven. If only Richard did his homework instead of knee-jerk comments designed to ingratiate himself into the union's good graces. I am completely embarrassed on his behalf because clearly he isn't capable of humility and self-awareness.

    Dear CrickeeRaven, Scal1024, and Kammy,

I was sincerely congratulating the accomplished students and their teachers. You decided to play politics. Why don't you just complement those hard-working students and teachers. Haven't they earned it?

    Happy Spring everyone.

Friday, April 6, 2018 Report this

  • CrickeeRaven

The shamelessness of the fake "mayor" continues:

"You decided to play politics," he accuses.

Yet he wrote this in his very first comment: "I believe that this is a direct result of the new contracts for the teachers."

Clearly, it is impossible for the fake "mayor" to compliment the students and their teachers [or spell correctly] without mentioning the contract and including his fake political title, proving that he is bringing politics into the discussion -- and then blaming others when they respond with facts that disprove his statements. He also does not admit to the factual errors that he willingly made in his prior comments, further adding to his long list of defects as a candidate.

Rick, you chose to use the contract as a political football for 2 years on here. Commenting on any/every honor roll article you could. Now you turn around and accuse us of playing politics for calling you out? Your delusion and pathetic pandering has no limits. You brought up the contract, while you ignore discussing the "sick outs" just like you evade questions about your tax delinquency and shady campaign expenses.Sad.

    Congratulations to Pilgrim's Honors Students!

That makes two acknowledgements, and 16 comments from self-absorbed adults who have way too much time on their hands.

Take this as an example of how NOT to repeatedly behave in a public forum....they think this is all about them, students.
