NO TRESPASS

At 8:07 p.m., Aug. 30, Warwick Police Officer Andrew J. Chretien responded to Barns and noble at 1350 Bald Hill Road for a subject to eject. The caller told police there was a “suspicious male wearing makeup and devil horns yelling vulgarities in the childrens section,” according to the incident report. Police identified the man as Johnathan Ratsombath, 30, of Cranston.

“Ratsombath appeared to be afraid of talking with officers and called 911 to verify that we were real,” Chretien wrote. “Ratsombath was informed of his no trespass and escorted from the store.”

DUI

Around 5:33 p.m., Aug. 25, Warwick Police responded to the area of 840 West Shore Road for the report of an intoxicated driver.

The vehicle was described as an orange Nissan. The caller provided the license plate number and followed at a safe distance until police arrived, according to the arrest report.

Police initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver near the intersection of Post Road and Warwick Avenue. They identified the driver as Walter E. Proffit, 84, 54 Holburn Ave., Cranston. He allegedly admitted drinking “four Bud Lights” but “drives this route almost every day.”

Police asked Proffit to consent to a series of standardized field sobriety tests. He agreed. Proffit also consented to a chemical breath test.  Following the tests police arrested Proffit and charged him with Driving Under the Influence of Liquor (0.10 to 0.15 BAC, first offense). He was cited for Laned Roadway Violations and Turn Signal Required.

DUI

Around 8:43 p.m., Aug. 26, Warwick Police responded to the parking lot of the Potowomut Golf Club, 439 Ives Roads, for a possible DUI in progress.

Police responding to the scene were advised by dispatch that the suspect vehicle was driving around the parking lot of the golf club erratically and almost struck a staff member and parked cars.

Police detained a suspect at the scene. They identified the driver as Grigoriy Reydel, 33, of 1850 Mooresfield Road, Apt. 4, Kingston.

“Prior to speaking with Reydel, I observed him to be laying on the ground,” Warwick Police Officer Connor R. Bemis wrote in the arrest report.

Bemis noted the man’s watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He asked Reydel to consent to a series of standardized field sobriety tests. He refused.

Reydel was arrested and charged with DUI of Liquor (BAC unknown) and cited for Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Breath Test (first offense).

Around 1:09 a.m., Aug. 28, Warwick Police traveling south on Post Road near the Airport Connector spotted a white Kia stopped in the left lane at a red light. As the light turned green, the vehicle didn’t move, it stayed at the green light “for an extended period of time.”

“I then observed the vehicle to suddenly accelerate from 0 miles per hour to approximately 45 miles per hour southbound on Post Road in an erratic manner,” Warwick Police Officer Connor R. Bemis wrote in the arrest report.

Police initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Hunter K. Latshaw, 28, of 835 Lloyd Road, Dayton, Tennessee.

Bemis noted that Latshaw’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. He smelled alcohol and the driver’s speech was allegedly slurred, according to the report.

“Latshaw was immediately confrontational with police and was visibly upset about being stopped,” Bemis wrote. “I then asked Latshaw to exit the vehicle, to which he initially refused to do.”

The driver was “gently guided outside of the vehicle without further incident,” Bemis wrote.

Police asked Latshaw to consent to a series of standardized field sobriety tests. He agreed.

Following the tests, he was arrested and charged with DUI of Liquor (BAC unknown) and cited for Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Breath Test (first offense). He was also cited for Stopping on Travel Portionof Open Highway and Care in Starting From Stop.

He was transported to Kent Hospital for detox and left in the care and custody of hospital staff.
