Ursula T. (Sorgel) Rotondi, a lifelong resident of Warwick, died at Kent Hospital on December 27, 2023, at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Giacomo “George” Rotondi.

Born in Warwick on January 28, 1930, to Arthur R. and Margaret (Tate) Sorgel, she grew up on Atlantic Avenue in Lakewood, and was a graduate of the former Aldrich High School.

For 30 years she worked diligently as the Head Cashier at Gregg's Restaurant on Post Road, bringing a warm smile and friendly demeanor to every customer she served. Her exceptional work ethic and unwavering commitment to her job earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and patrons alike. She retired from Gregg’s in 2015 at the age of 85. Previously, she worked at Warwick Shoppers World and Valley’s Steak House.

When not working, Ursula had a multitude of passions that brought her immense happiness and fulfillment. A faithful Christian, she was a member of Trinity Church in Pawtuxet. She possessed a remarkable talent for knitting and crochet, creating beautiful pieces that showcased her artistic eye and creative skills. Ursula could often be found engrossed in crossword puzzles, challenging her mind, and expanding her knowledge. She loved to read, and she enjoyed bowling a string or two with friends and family.

With an unwavering dedication to her favorite team, Ursula was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan. She eagerly cheered for her beloved Red Sox, sharing in both the thrilling victories and the heart-wrenching defeats. Her passion for the sport brought her joy and camaraderie with fellow fans, even with her late husband who was a devout Yankees fan.

Ursula's culinary skills captivated her loved one’s attention and appetites with her delicious dishes and delectable baked goods. Her kitchen was always filled with the tantalizing aroma of her homemade creations, and family gatherings were made more special by her culinary delights.

She was a devoted mother to her seven children: Linda Forbes (William), Sharon King, John Rotondi (Susan), Gary Rotondi (Donna), Richard Rotondi (Amy), Mark Rotondi (Donna), and Rita Antone (Peter). Her love and guidance shaped their lives and taught them invaluable lessons of strength, compassion, and resilience. Her brother, Richard Sorgel and her late sisters, Hope Titzler and Anne Wilson, also held a special place in her heart, as did her cherished fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride.

Her family will gather privately to honor and celebrate her life at the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. A private interment will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to provide tuition assistance may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic School, 501 N Water Avenue, Gallatin, TN 37066. Condolences may be offered to her family and remembrances of Ursula shared online at www.barrettandcotter.com.

Ursula's loving spirit and kind heart will be dearly missed but forever cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Let us remember her with smiles, laughter, and love, knowing that her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Rest in peace, dear Ursula. May your soul find eternal serenity and may your memory be a blessing to us all. “Thanks for stopping by.”
