Roundup: Pilgrim thumps Smithfield

The Pilgrim baseball team scored 11 runs in the fifth inning to shut out the Sentinels last week. Henry Kearns, Nolan Canestrari, Aidan Dumond and Chace Roberts all knocked in multiple runs to pace the offense. Canestrari was stellar on the mound, pitching all five innings and allowing just three hits and striking out five batters. 

Cranston East 12, Toll Gate 2

Austin Wheeler drove in a run for Toll Gate in its loss to Cranston East. Jayden Gonzalez also crossed home in the loss.


SOFTBALL

Pilgrim 9, East Providence 0

The Pats stayed hot in Division I and cruised to a shutout win over the Townies.

Gretchen Dombeck pitched all seven innings for Pilgrim and allowed no runs on just two hits while striking out 10 batters. Genna D’Amato led the offense with three hits and three RBI while Audra McDonnell and Carli Harker each drove in multiple runs as well.


Toll Gate 12, Middletown 9

Amanda Preston and Delaney Wilson each drove in multiple runs in Toll Gate’s win, while Reagan Motta and Alyssa Ferns each crossed home twice.
