Bringing a boulevard to a standstill

A swath of Jefferson Boulevard south from the Airport Connector lost power early Saturday morning when a vehicle snapped a utility pole bringing down the traffic signal at Wethersfield Commons and left the scene. The maze of downed wires required the closure of that section of the boulevard from about 5:30 a.m. until well after noon. Mayor Joseph Solomon said he spent most of his morning on scene in an effort to coordinate the cleanup efforts of the city, National Grid and cable companies. Solomon rhetorically asked, “Can you imagine the tie-ups if this had happened on a Monday morning?” (Warwick Beacon photo)

It must be close to the election if the mayor needs to come out on a Saturday morning and micro-manage a hit and run.

I think the police and fire departments know what they are doing Joe.
