Ava Fernandez, of Natick Avenue in Warwick, was crowned as the winner of the My Merry Christmas Coloring Contest in the Warwick Beacon, and has secured four tickets to ride the Polar Express train on Sunday, Dec. 17. Fernandez attends 4th grade at Wakefield Hills Elementary School in West Warwick and is an avid dance, gymnastics and country music enthusiast. “I’ve got a lot of things going on,” she said when thinking about her schedule for the day, in addition to being interviewed. Fernandez said that her and her sister were jumping up and down like crazy when they learned she had won, and that she has been honing her coloring skills since she was just 1 year old. She said her mother Kristen, a dance teacher at Let’s Dance in West Warwick, was jumping around excited too. She also thanked her teacher, Ms. Tocco. (Warwick Beacon photo)
