Yes, those are scissors – giant scissors – that Mayor Scott Avedisian is welding for the official grand opening of Mentor Rhode Island offices next to Coastway Community Bank on Warwick Avenue. With him are Jo-Ann Schofield, president and CEO of Mentor Rhode Island, mentor staff and Coastway Bank officials. The bank is leasing the non-profit the office space for $1 a year. Bathing suits were not the attire of the day, but they will be this Sunday at noon at Goddard Park. With Greenwich Bay frozen, Mentor postponed its Frozen Clam Dip on New Year’s Day. The event will be Sunday and for a $10 contribution, you can join the gang and support mentoring. Best wear a bathing suit. (Warwick Beacon photo)
