Posted

Forster Frank Schofield was born on October 22, 1929, in Coventry Rhode Island to Isabel "Trayner" McShane and Frank Schofield. He was the loving husband of the late Sally E. Schofield. He was the brother of the late Alice "Lillian" Salisbury.

He leaves behind daughters Janis Schofield, Joyce Rose and Julie Calabro. Grandchildren Shanna Bananna and Corey Woodard. Great-grandchildren Senior Airman Henry Forster Roma, Corey Woodard Jr. and Logan Dorazio.

He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the Woonsocket Call newspaper as a Production Manager. During his time at the Call he traveled to Germany where he spoke as a world authority on printing innovations. He retired at 55 and traveled with his wonderful wife Sally across the United States, Nova Scotia and to Alaska. His favorite travels were sailing the Caribbean with Sally and friends. They would sail for weeks, living off of what they could catch daily from the local waters. Frank was a shining example of selflessness, caring compassion and generosity. He loved to have a project, fixing or building things for himself and others, always excited to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone who wanted it. He was a rare gem of a human. He passed away comfortably at home surrounded by family and his girlfriend Rose Caine. When asked how he was doing he would always respond " better than most". He was better than most, also better than the best, a pure treasure to anyone who had the privilege to have known him.

A service is scheduled on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter Rhode Island.

There will be a celebration of life following the ceremony.
