To the Editor:
The horror and loss that was caused by James Holmes in the Colorado theatre tragedy was caused by his own psychological maladies, not a sociological predicate.
The speculative discussions about movie culture and emulated fictional villains driving this sad young man are ludicrous. The horrendous and reprehensible acts that were committed by Holmes were prompted by the demons within, not the perhaps too-violent American culture without.
People with political agendas take morbid opportunities like these to drive their causes of gun control, restrictions on entertainment and the descent of popular culture. When in reality, those issues have nothing to due with a detached, mentally ill ex-medical student whose delusions drove him to this destructive act.
