The music festival season is already underway with tons of events taking place either over the course of an entire day or a whole weekend. There’s a bunch of others that have been slowly but surely being announced with the anticipation increasing with acts being added on a regular basis. Coming off of the successful “Reggae Fest” that took place in the heart of Wakefield within South Kingstown on April 20, another joyous occasion is going to be happening at the same location on May 25. It’s simply titled “Wakefield Music Fest” and there’s a whole lot to offer with live music, entertainment, vendors and refreshments being available from 2-10pm. Much like the previous festival, this event is presented by the Contemporary Theater Company located on 327 Main Street.

The lineup for “Wakefield Music Fest” is stacked with some of the most talented and heralded bands and musicians in Southern New England encompassing the lineup. Hailing from the seaside village of Mystic, Connecticut, Mystic Dead has been a staple for fans of The Grateful Dead around the area while also staying true to their own creative talents that have been a core element of the band’s mantra since 2018. Providence act Timeless are going to be performing a wide range of covers that include rock & roll standards such as Carl Perkins’ “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry as well as more recent hits like King of Leon’s “Sex on Fire” and “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton. Rhode Island Music Hall of Famer and sax legend Dan Moretti, who has played with the likes of Robert Plant, Ray Charles, Stevie Nicks and Aretha Franklin, is going to be leading his Soul Jazz Collective with Boston blues, soul and funk artist Sonya Rae Taylor being included as a special guest. Providing something for the country music fans who will be in attendance, Bulletproof plans on exhibiting that specific style while rounding it out with an amplified rock & roll edge.

For the evening portion of the festival, Narragansett funk-jam band Guess Method are going to be making people dance all over the premises with their infectious grooves. Closing things out will be Brass Force, who have been performing for nearly 40 years while bringing a high-octane horn-driven brand of funk music. Much like Timeless, their repertoire spans through various decades while being a fixture at numerous venues and private parties. If that isn’t enough, the kids will have the opportunity to meet Bluey from the ABC Kids television series of the same name. Super Mario from the legendary video game series “Super Mario Bros.” will be there as well.

If by chance the weather doesn’t cooperate, which sometimes happens around these parts, then the rain date will be the following day on May 26 at the same time and at the same location. Children 12 and under can get into the festival for free and there’s free parking in the municipal lots. It also should be mentioned that the proceeds from the “Wakefield Music Fest” will be going to benefit the organization’s public
