To the Editor:
I often frequent the City Park bike path. I, like many others, enjoy the tranquil landscape and winding pathways and consider it a fine place to exercise. Unfortunately, my trips biking around City Park are often jaded. Jaded by walkers.
When one enters the bike path, there is a sign that says, “WALKERS LEFT, BIKERS RIGHT” in a very clear, bold-faced font. Yet I am constantly forced to ride around walkers and joggers choosing to exercise on the bikers’ right side. This has been going on ever since I started using the park over a decade ago, and needless to say, I’m vexed.
The madness must stop. My leisurely rides are always interrupted by a quick swerve to my left to avoid crashing into an unsuspecting walker. In some cases, the walker may even have a pair of headphones, which may cause a scary and unfortunate incident. I am writing as a plea for sanity, walkers please stay to the left.
