Three longtime volunteers of the Warwick Firefighters Soccer Club were recognized for their dedication by Soccer Rhode Island, the state governing organization, Sunday at the Soccer R.I. 2016 Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet.

Jack Groh enters the SRI Hall of Fame. Groh has been on the WFFSC Board of Directors for about 20 years and has been the Director of Coaches for most of that time. Groh coached for many years and is also a qualified referee.

He is very involved with WFFSC and responsible for much of the club’s success. Groh also is the Director of Environment for the NFL and is just returning from two months in San Francisco and Hawaii, where he directed all the environmental programs for the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. He also held similar position for the NCAA Football Championship game, recently held in Arizona.

Bob Enright was awarded Registrar of the Year by SRI. This award comes directly from SRI, as it deems the best registrar in the state. Enright has been with WFFSC for many years, has been registrar for a long time, is the Girls Competitive Director, directs all the training and coaches many teams. Enright is one of the mainstays at WFFSC that makes the club the success it is today.

In addition to his work as a coach and administrator, Enright also has become a key part of WFFSC’s training clinics for new coaches.

Finally, Doyle Byrd was awarded Club President of the Year. He has been president for 10 years and, during that time, has overseen the expansion of WFFSC and its move to a new home field in 2015.

Like many others, Byrd joined the club to help coach his own children. When elected president in 2006, he brought a vision to expand the size of the club and to make it as inclusive as possible. He has focused on fair play and putting the needs of the young players first.
