Everytime I see a new list of honor students from Winman it seems longer than the last one. Congratulations to the honor students listed above and the honor teachers that molded them.

Happy and safe Fourth of July everyone.

    Rick Corrente

    The Taxpayers Mayor

Compliments to the parents who withstood two years of political posturing by the WTU (and pandering by the make-believe mayor) to assist their kids in achieving honor roll success.

They all deserved much better from teachers than work-to-rule, pickets, and sick-outs before the contract settlement that was worse than the prior contract. They also realize that the failed 2016 mayoral candidate is ignoring the negative impact of the WTU's tactics and pandering to the union at the expense of these parents and their children.

He will certainly continue to humiliate himself in his future comments.

Once again the make-believe mayor succeeds only in making uninformed statements that fall apart under the barest scrutiny:

"Everytime I see a new list of honor students from Winman it seems longer than the last one."

Here is the 4th quarter honor roll from Winman last year. It lists 280 students: http://warwickonline.com/stories/4th-quarter-honors-post-at-winman-junior-high,126974?

The list above includes 231 students.

Thus, this year's honor roll is factually not "longer than the last one," despite what it "seems" to the make-believe mayor.

In his desperate attempt to pander to the WTU, the make-believe mayor only further humiliates himself by crediting teachers with an achievement that they did not accomplish, and ignoring the sacrifices of parents who continued to support their children through the recent posturing of the teachers union.

Honest, taxpaying voters will add this behavior to the many other examples of his complete unfitness for office and make the correct decision by rejecting his candidacy again this year.

When you get past the average number of digits on an average human, master mayer runs into math difficulties.

Crickee, that doesn't fit Corrente the lying, tax delinquent, fake mayors narrative that the honor rolls keep getting longer. Will he now say the teachers did a poor job because the honor roll has less students this quarter? Or does he recognize that would be just as stupid as assuming the teachers had done a better job, just because the total number of honor roll students had increased over 1 quarter. It once again proves that math is not Correntes friend, neither is telling the truth, and paying his fair share of taxes. Warwick voters will choose a serious, informed candidate who can actually better our future, not Rick Corrente

Scal, I think we can fairly say -- after nearly four years of the make-believe mayor's antics -- that facts usually get in the way of his claims about nearly everything to do with the city.

The real problem, the underlying defect with his candidacy as he has willingly expressed it on this website, is that he thinks there's a problem with those facts -- not his claims.

So, to use this topic as an example, we have seen repeatedly that he will not admit the WTU engaged in two years of work-to-rule, pickets, and sick-outs before agreeing to an objectively worse contract. [Although the union got the salary increases they wanted, the school committee can now exceed the prior limit of 20 layoffs per school year caused by consolidation, to use one example.]

As a result, he will deny anything that shows less achievement by students -- including factual information that disproves his claim of longer honor roll lists from last year [prior to the contract agreement] and this year.

He's repeatedly tried to make that point -- that, because of the new contract [which he mistakenly thinks was a victory for the union], teachers are now improving student achievement from where it was before. Thus, even if he were arguing that more students were on the 4th quarter honor roll over the 3rd quarter, that would be an misleading comparison because it fails to take into account the one thing that he has continually said resulted in more student achievement: the new contract.

So, he has made objectively false statements about the contract agreement resulting in higher numbers of students on the honor roll, and is now trying to ignore the new contract while still saying that student achievement has improved.

What he could have done, if he really wanted to be seen as a serious, informed candidate, is thank the WTU for making concessions that finally settled the issue -- but, as you rightly point out, that would get in the way of the fictional narrative that he has created.
