First day faces
FACE TO FACE: Mayor Scott Avedisian, who toured Warwick schools with interim superintendent William Holland and Deputy Police Chief Michael Babula, gets to meet kindergartener Jayden Foose at Norwood School. One student preferred to look at the mayor upside down.

A SWEET SMILE: Second grade students in the class of Julie Pezzullo were all given Pez candies to remind them of their teacher’s name. The candy had Jadyn Moore smiling.
JELL-O CRISIS: Michelle Paton, Sherman School principal, listens to Jacob Soulliere, whose pants were stained red. Jacob said a container of Jell-O popped open in his pocket.
FIRST DAY PHOTOS: Fifth grade Sherman schoolteacher Melissa Devine brought her students outside for first day photographs. She plans to do the same thing on the last day of school.
FRESHMEN RULE: To get the swing of things, only high school freshmen went to classes yesterday. Here, members of the class fill the corridors of Pilgrim as they head for class.
MAKE LIKE AN AIRPLANE: Norwood kindergarten teacher Patricia Shanley gets students to stretch as they imagine their airplanes ready to fly. Shanley’s assistant is Mary Lou Bouchard. The two have known each other for years. They were classmates at Lockwood Junior High School.
RESTROOM RULES: Norwood 2nd grade teacher Mary Mason instructs her students on restroom etiquette, including no more than three in the restroom at a time and using a single sheet of paper to dry hands.
I find political hack Scott Avedisian a lot less charming after hearing him blame the victim for a RIPTA bus tragedy last May. I learned of the death of Bobbie Moore a few days ago. I reported it to Gene Valicenti. I guess Lifespan verified it and Bobbie Moore's death was reported on the evening news.
I said to Valicenti that if eye witness statements were accurate , RIPTA should face a charge of vehicular homicide.
A NON-PERSON this 31 year old woman Bobbie Moore ? Not even a death notice in the Providence Journal ?
PROVIDENCE, R.I (WPRI) — RIPTA officials tell Eyewitness News a driver has been disciplined after he was apparently caught looking at pornography on his cell phone at a bus stop.
THAT was the TV news Channel 12 headline on Sept.5. So RIPTA will not tolerate a bus driver peeking at porn on his cell phone. But a reckless driver- guilty of vehicular homicide gets a free bus pass ?
Rhode Island deserves a better RIPTA . The fish rots from the top down !
