Home Loan Investment Bank, FSB, located at One Home Loan Plaza in Warwick has announced the appointment of Michael Holahan as chief financial officer and the election of bank president and CEO, Brian J. Murphy, as chairman of the board of directors.

Holahan will be responsible for all of the Bank’s fiscal operating results, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting and regulatory and government agency reports, ensuring the safeguarding of the Bank’s assets and attaining the Bank’s financial goals.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael back to Home Loan as CFO,” Murphy, chairman and CEO, said in a statement.  “He is a true professional and respected veteran of the industry and promises to be an integral part of our future success.”

Holahan began his career at Home Loan in 1986, working in multiple capacities within the organization.  He worked in the Underwriting Department for three years before moving to the Accounting Department, where he was a senior accountant and then department supervisor.  He was promoted to controller in 2004, and in 2011 took a position with the City of Cranston in the Finance Department.

Holahan is a graduate of Bryant College in Smithfield. He currently resides in Cranston.

Murphy has served as the president and CEO of Home Loan since 2009, where he has enhanced operations by implementing new technology, restructuring departments, and streamlining workflow; managing short- and long-term liquidity, cost of funds, budget and forecasting models; overseeing all human resources activity, including corporate training; and actively managing all sales activity for Ocean Capital, the bank’s commercial lending division.  Murphy has served on the Board of Directors since 2002.

Prior to Home Loan, Murphy earned an MBA from the Yale University School of Management, after gaining experience on Wall Street as a Financial Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group at CIBC World Markets Investment Bank in New York.  There, he assisted in the execution of a variety of transactions, including equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and share buyback programs.  He also worked as a Financial Associate at Citigroup Investments, Inc. in Hartford, Conn., where he performed valuation analysis for investment properties, and participated in a summer-long project on terrorism insurance coverage.

Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University with a concentration in Business Economics and Organizational Behavior and Management. He is a Co-Founder of the Hatch Entrepreneurial Center, Chairman of the Rhode Island Bankers Association, Director of the Rhode Island Business Development Company, Board Trustee for Our Lady of Mercy School, and a past president of RISE (Rhode Islanders Sponsoring Education).  He resides in Warwick.

Home Loan Investment Bank, FSB (HLIB) is a federally regulated, FDIC-insured savings bank with branches in Providence and Warwick offering commercial, home improvement, and small business lending; personal and business banking; automobile financing and mortgage services.

It's such an honor and privilege to be exposed to the self-righteous, pious, redundant, repetitive commentary of "The Captain", the only guiltless, sinless, faultless person in Warwick over the age of seven. I never tire of hearing his constant efforts to remind us of issues that are so critical to his life- let us all pray that he never finds a new hobby or diversion.

It's so refreshing to constantly read his personal attacks in a public forum.

Perhaps, someday, he'll take it to the next level and commit himself to actually running for office and changing things, instead of crying in the wild and hoping someone else will heed his faultless wisdom...we can only dream! Yay "Captain"!

    RISchadenfreude,

Maybe you are ok with having someone run for office and spout out about cutting taxes when that person doesn't pay his fair share. Maybe disingenuous is a word absent from your vocabulary just because you are anesthetized due to the hypocrisy in the political realm of Rhode Island. And you also make a great point by stating that "of issues that are so critical to his life". The statement speaks volumes. Head in the sand, not active in your community, not paying attention to the deficits in your community and how these deficits will effect future generations. Keep smiling RI. Im sure your happy as long as your garbage gets picked up on Tuesday. After all, what more to life in a community is there?
