On Tuesday, Oct. 23, five candidates running for seats on the Warwick School Committee converged upon Studio 107 at Pilgrim High School for a forum put on by the Warwick Beacon. Andrea Place, Christopher Pratt and Rich Denningham, along with a countless number of Pilgrim students, helped shoot and produce this forum.
Corey Smith, running for District 3, was unable to attend the forum due to a conflict teaching a night class at Johnson & Wales University. He has since made himself available via Facebook to answer questions.
This forum will air on PEG RI-TV local access channel 17 for Cox customers and 37 for Verizon on the following dates:

I strongly recommend all voters view this very informative debate between the candidates for School Committee. The candidates were well prepared and they answered every vital question. The Warwick Beacon did a great job of presenting this forum and the positions are too important to leave to "street signs".

There are a lot of people that approach me EVERY DAY that would disagree with you. I admit that I am probably not YOUR Mayor. I represent "Cut Taxes - Cut Spending" which you obviously disagree with. You must be on the receiving end of the tax dollars. Why else would you be afraid of being identified? Stay in the shadows WwkVoter. You belong there.
I'm NOT the Mayor of anyone who is too much of a coward to speak from his/her real name. I AM the "Mayor" who represents the 80,000 taxpayers that are paying the tab.

Here we are again, WwkVoter and Thecaptain, right back at exposing the core lies of the two-time election reject.
He has often claimed to represent people, but he lost -- twice. He has chosen to ignore reality in favor of his delusional thoughts.
His conspiracy theories and discrimination between taxpayers and those who he claims "are on the receiving end" of their taxes are a direct result of his refusal to acknowledge that reality.
As city records show, he did not pay the property taxes on his former residence since 2014, resulting in his eviction. He owns a rental property, which means his tenants' money pays the taxes on it.
Thus, he has been "on the receiving end" of others' contributions to the city -- the four other parties who paid his property taxes, as one example -- and is willingly proving how defective his thinking is, yet again, by claiming otherwise.
His whining about other commenters' use of screen names will not change the fact that he represents no one except himself.
We and our honest, taxpaying neighbors can be thankful that we kept the two-time election reject off the ballot again this year.

You know, Cat, I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone who is so intent on exposing his own defective thinking like the two-time election reject has.
Let's take the statement that you justifiably call into question: "There are a lot of people... that would disagree with you."
First, this is ignoring the obvious fact that, on two occasions, more people rejected his candidacy -- meaning that, as many people as he claims disagree with Scal, many, many more agreed that the two-time election reject is unfit for office.
Second, even if there were "a lot of people" who believe that a failed candidate should call himself by a make-believe title, citing such unidentified [or, to use another term, anonymous] support is hypocritical for him to do, as he has so often engaged in name-calling and questioned the credibility of commenters on this website who use screen names.
And finally, none of these people have made any comments on this website in support of the two-time election reject and his made-up title. As we know, the two-time election reject is in the habit of claiming to have conversations that somehow support his statements -- and yet there has never been objective and verifiable information to prove that they actually occurred.
[Remember his claim about "every council member" saying he had an effect on their budget decisions, when not a single one of them was quoted or even heard in public saying such a thing?]
So, once again, the two-time election reject is demanding that other people simply take his word, when so often his word is proven to be false.

Ryan Corrigan from Pilgrim queries: "Do you believe that public schools should be focused on growth or proficiency when it comes to educating their students?" Good question.
Mr. Adams responds by addressing "efficiency", not proficiency. Nobody clarifies. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Mr. Cascella responds that "We need to work real hard to build our achievement."
Ms. Cobden blames it on a "lack of communication and resources", specifically in science.
Ms. Medieros: "We definitely want out kids to achieve", and something about a "report card committee" and "more career and tech". If you haven't seen it, the last 60 seconds of her response is painful, but explains a lot about Warwick's current status.
Mr. Cornell, paraphrasing, 'Warwick kids don't take standardized tests seriously.'
Good Lord!! Not one mention of accountability. Not a word about per-pupil spending or proficiency vs. neighboring communities. Is Mr. Cascella even aware that Warwick spends much, much more per student than either North Kingstown or East Greenwich. while Warwick's proficiency levels pale badly in comparison? Pilgrim's rate of Math proficiency (12.7%) is the second lowest in the state among the 17 schools with lower than a 48% poverty rate. If these are the best answers we can get when it comes to proficiency, Warwick is in for more navel gazing when it comes to the truly deplorable rates of proficiency for which taxpayers are paying handsomely.

John and the scary part is only a handful of people actually watched that video. Teacher Union will be working the polls for Adams and Cobden, no one will address the elephant in the room being 85% of the school budget is spent on benefits and salary.

They supported the $40 million school bond while the two-time election reject did not.
He is, therefore, not focused on the needs of the students as much as the newly-elected members of the school committee -- and his statements should be seen with the same amount of credibility as his accusations of extortion and blackmail against the prior school committee: Zero.
