The Kent County Water Authority on Monday, April 30 through Friday, May 18 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. (depending on weather and system demand conditions) will conduct hydrant flushing in a portion of our Scituate, Cranston, Coventry, Warwick and West Warwick system.
Description of affected areas is as follows:
1. Scituate – Hope.
2. Cranston – Fiskeville and Oaklawn.
3. Coventry – All except for the southern and western area bordered by West Greenwich and East Greenwich.
4. Warwick – Natick and East Natick. Tollgate Road and Centerville Road Area east to Apponaug.
5. West Warwick – Between Coventry town line and Warwick town line from the Cranston town line southerly to East Greenwich Avenue.
This flushing is being done to remove the bulk of the accumulated sediments and mineral deposits in our water mains prior to the onset of our summer demand period. Our customers may experience some discolored water and lower than normal water pressure during this period.
If you experience discoloration, allow your cold water to run for a short time to clear this up. We will have our crews in the field to monitor this during the hydrant flushing.
You may also experience a reduction in pressure during this time. This is just temporary due to the flushing.
We certainly apologize for any inconvenience this might cause but this flushing is important for our continued operation of our system and to provide consistent quality of water to our customers. Certainly, if any customers have concerns during this flushing period, please call the Kent County Water Authority at 821-9300. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Dear Justanidiot,
Actually...it does.
And flushing out the pipes every few years keeps the sediment from going into our drinking water. It makes for a day or two of unclear water in our faucets but in the long run it provides cleaner water and extends the life of the water system that we taxpayers have to pay for.
Personally, I would rather pay for maintenance than replacement.
Wouldn't you? Or would you consider that "centsless"?
Happy Spring Justanidiot, my old friend. I always enjoy your comments.
Happy Spring everyone.

Dear Justanidiot,
No, I'm pro environment.
If I wanted to leave the sediment in the water pipes I would be "ante environment". That wouldn't be very "gud" would it?
Speaking of which, it's always "gud" to hear from you old friend.
Keep commenting. You always make the readers smile.
Happy Spring Justanidiot.
