Imagine you went through all the years of education needed to become a teacher. Imagine you've been at it for over 10 years as a Warwick school teacher. Imagine all the extra work you had to put in to help 400-plus students get to the honor roll. Imagine doing that while members of the School Committee were accusing you of "doing the bare minimum". Imagine while you were molding the minds of all these honor students you were watching 65 of your co-worker teachers, with over ten years on the job, get unceremoniously laid off at the School Committee meeting. Now imagine what it must feel like to know that you don't even have a contract! I can't fully understand how that feels, but I can and do greatly respect those that are in that state of mind.

The Warwick teachers deserve a contract. Period! The teachers are willing to negotiate. The School Committee is not. That's wrong and the students are suffering for it. Wake up School Committee! Didn't the Ragosta Report damage your credibility enough? Show good faith and negotiate! And before a reader or two accuses me of pandering to the teachers, I admit it. I am! In this situation, they deserve to be pandered to!

Enjoy your Summer.
