1. I applaud the mayor for finally getting involved.
2. If the mayor had an ounce of testicular fortitude, he would move to de-certify the union and direct school administrators to offer contracts to individual teachers one by one. Take it or leave it. Union membership is now at 12% in the dreaded private sector. "Teachers' unions" are an antiquated notion, at best.
3. Can we mercifully dispense with the notion that this is "...all about the children"? A large scale, coordinated sick-out says it all about where priorities lie.
