If you look the aforementioned judge up on the uscourts website, you will see he is now the chief judge. Curiously, his bio omits his service as City of Warwick Solicitor. However, an attached downloadable PDF article does make some mention of this. It states the (now) Chief Judge “competed for and won a contract to consolidate all of the city’s legal services and was designated as the city solicitor. Revolutionary at the time, he convinced Mayor Chafee that his firm could handle the city’s legal work efficiently and effectively . . .” In other words, he insured all contracted legal work went to his own company, while somehow being “designated” solicitor. This article was written by an attorney. It’s curious that, being an attorney, she uses the word “revolutionary” to describe this situation. So, maybe we can give our current Mayor Solomon credit for doing something that is also “revolutionary” ?
