A real lack of leadership in Warwick. They should have threatened to close 5 firehouses to get real compromise or just do it now. The city has closed 19 schools, had half the student population as years past, and the city population is down.

By comparison, Providence has a population of 100k more, large structures and has 13 stations. Warwick has 12. Just a NYC did under Bloomberg, it is time to cut the number of stations. It isn’t personal like the union would have you believe- it is a needed for the city to survive.

With rare traffic, I am sure 3-4 stations could get combined with little effect on response times. Until the city learns to control costs and improve school ratings the population of Warwick will continue to decline and result in increase financial pressure on the tax payers remaining.
