Ruth Mae (Beckett) Abbott, 96, formerly of Archdale Drive, Warwick, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick. Born in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late Nathan S. Sr., and Mary R. (Barker) Beckett.
Ruth worked as a Switchboard Receptionist with Universal Optical Company for 25 years before retiring in 1986. She was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Warwick and was a very active member of the Pilgrim Center where she was a member of the tap dance group which performed regularly at nursing homes and other events and was a member of the Gaspee Seniors.
Ruth enjoyed doing all kinds of handy crafts and she loved to cook and work in her yard.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara-Jean Lynch and her husband Thomas Chadwick of West Warwick. She was the mother of the late William D. Crowell and sister of the late Thomas N. Beckett and Nathan S. Beckett, Jr.
Ruth’s Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick. Burial in Pawtuxet Memorial Park was private for the family.
