Over the weekend, the Apponaug Pride 12U team participated in the Milford, Mass. softball tournament. The team finished with a 3-1 record, that included a no-hitter pitched by Jacqualyn Altieri in a 14 - 0 victory against the Milford Hawks White team.
The team also turned a 6-3-1-4 triple play. The batter hit a liner to Hannah Foster at shortstop, who caught the ball and then threw to Altieri at first base to double up the runner. Altieri then threw the ball back to Hayley Hindle at the pitcher’s mound. Hayley noticed that the runner who was on second base was still off the bag and she threw the ball to Abby Foster to turn the triple play.
Shelby Dellasandro had an unassisted double play at first in the tournament.
