Toll Gate High School student Christina Abramson, whose pencil drawing of a monkey’s face with its eyes reflecting construction cranes destroying its habitat, placed second in the Artistic Discovery sponsored by Congressman Jim Langevin. There were 43 entries in the competition that was judged by members of the Wickford Art Association. Students from the Toll Gate class taught by Doreen DeStefano made up the largest group of Warwick students to enter the competition. Nicholas Peladeau of Pilgrim also competed in the show. Langevin is seen here with Abramson (at right) and Brenna Coleman, also from Toll Gate, with her work. Other Toll Gate students in the competition were Mikayla Rogers, Corey Favino, Schuyler TenEyck and Stepheanie Byrd. The awards ceremony was held Sunday at Warwick Mall. Abramson’s work will be on display at the congressman’s office in Washington.
