The Warwick Police Explorer Program has launched the recruitment process for the September 2023 through June 2024 season.

This program is for 14-20 year-old RI residents, who work hard, are of good moral character, believe in the importance of physical fitness, leadership, and responsibility, are either in high school, college, or just graduated, and have a real interest in learning about all aspects of the law enforcement profession,” according to an online post by Ryan Shibley, Director of the WPD Explorer Program. “The Explorer Program holds weekly class sessions on Monday evenings throughout the school year, and encourages taking part in monthly community service events when offered on the weekends. Some of the community service events offered last season include the November Food Drive, the December Toy Drive, and even the Rocky Point fireworks on New Year’s Day. Some of the Explorer events from last season include the Summer Academy in late June, the Stations Day in April, and even our Holiday bowling party in December. And some of our weekly class topics, taught by various WPD officers, include: Use of Force, Firearms Safety, Room Clearing/Building Searches, SWAT/K9 presentations and much much more!”

If interested, and if you meet the criteria, you can fill out an application on the Warwick Police Department website. Or you can email Shibley at Ryan.Shibley@warwickri.gov.
