Barbara A. (Bauer) Kareliussen, age 91, of Warwick, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at West Shore Health Center. She was the wife of Harold Kareliussen. She was also the wife of the late Robert Mackie, Jr.

Barbara, “Bobbie” to her family, was born in Newark, NJ, a daughter of the late William J. and Lillian (Porter) Bauer, and spent the first 54 years of her life living in New Jersey, primarily in Willingboro Township. During this time she was a loving wife and mother, and was active in the Willingboro PTA (past president) and associated charitable organizations. Barbara was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating a bridal boutique. Additionally, she worked in purchasing at Inductotherm, Inc. Upon marrying Harold in 1983, she relocated to Warwick, RI, where she has been a resident for the last 38 years. Barbara loved to travel, and along with Harold they enjoyed taking vacations to a number of destinations including Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, Scandinavia, and Europe. She loved watching PGA golf tournaments and following her favorite golfer, Phil Mickelson. Barbara enjoyed going to Sunday Mass and saying her rosary every morning. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Parish in Warwick.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Linda Bourne of Loganville, GA; two sons, Alan Mackie (Kathleen) of Cinnaminson, NJ and William Mackie of Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Bernadette Mackie of Bedford, PA; a sister, Audrey Guensch of Edison, NJ; a brother, William Bauer (Lea) of Sun City, CA; a brother-in-law, Robert Kareliussen (Mary) of Cheshire, CT; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Caroline, Jonathan, Robert IV, Bonnie Jean, Abdur, and Brian; six great-grandchildren, Everly, Robert V, Abigail, Maryam, Amina, and Bashir; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the mother of the late Robert Mackie III, and the sister of the late Phyllis Powers and Marilyn Geller.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
