Reid Bentsen and Ashley McDonald were recently recognized for all that they accomplished during the 2015 horse show season.
Bentsen competed at various horse shows around New England in 2015, including on his family’s farm, Dapper Dan Farm, in Warwick, R.I. Bentsen’s impressive year was recognized by the Rhode Island Horseman’s Association, as it presented him with several high score awards at the year-end banquet.
Bentsen was champion of the Children’s Hunter Pony Division, in addition to being named the Overall Children’s Hunter champion aboard his pony, Orchard Hill’s Take a Chance. He also took Top Hat and Tails to high honors in the English Horse in Hand Division, as well as Golden Sunrise in the Pet Pony Division. Bentsen was guided by his cousin, McDonald, who was recognized with the 2015 RIHA High Point Equitation award.
McDonald’s students brought home numerous equitation awards, 36 RIHA hunter and pleasure awards and 18 New England Horseman’s Council awards, 10 of which were championships. Her students show in divisions from Leadline through Children’s Divisions.
McDonald, along with Dapper Dan Stables, would like to congratulate her students: Bentsen, Emma McDonald, Sophie DeBerardis, Lilly Kallas, Greta Gallagher, Deanna Morin, Ava Grace Haders, Jessie McWilliams, Elizabeth Fraza, Emily Richardson, Olivia Nippe-Jeakins, Lola Reikrud and Tayla Silva.
